This 20th-century portrait continues the tradition begun in the late Middle Ages of portraying Moses with two sets of rays emanating from his head at the same angle and in the same position as the horns that had been conventional in earlier Moses images. The prophet's other attributes are also included: the beard, the rod, and the tablets of the Law. His garments resemble the chasuble and alb worn by 20th-century priests.

The red of the outer garment is the color of chasubles worn in votive Masses of the Holy Spirit and on Pentecost (Sancta Missa: "Vestments"), the feast celebrating the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the apostles (Acts 2:1-4). This is appropriate because the portrait is part of a large window that features persons from history associated with the "Seven Gifts of the Holy Spirit."
